Hi, I’m Krystle McDowall, a surface pattern designer and storyteller at heart.
I create whimsical, feminine, and trend-forward designs for brands that value originality, beauty, and emotion.
Every piece I design is guided by one belief — that art has the power to turn everyday products into meaningful stories.
My name is Krystle, and I’m a single mom and artist based in Toronto, Canada. I fell in love with art at a young age, but life pulled me away from it for years—until a spontaneous paint night in 2017 reignited that spark.
When the pandemic hit, I lost my job and faced a devastating personal loss—the passing of my younger brother, Christopher. Art became a lifeline. I threw myself into creating—learning watercolor, acrylics, resin, alcohol inks—and eventually discovered the world of surface pattern design.
With an iPad, a laptop, and a DIY crash course in Photoshop, I launched an Etsy shop and made over 400 sales in my first year. Each pattern I created helped me heal and build a new path forward—one that reflects both my creative voice and my resilience.
Now, I design cohesive pattern collections for licensing—helping brands stand out with original, story-driven art.
I believe that good design is more than surface deep—it tells stories, sparks emotion, and helps brands connect meaningfully with their customers. Here’s what inspires every collection I create:
.Art helped me process loss and rediscover joy—now I design with heart, intention, and purpose.
My patterns aren’t just pretty—they’re thoughtfully made with your product and audience in mind.
I value connection and working closely with creative teams who want something truly original.
I make it easy to license high-quality, trend-forward designs without the stress or guesswork.
